The obsession with Bluey the 6 year old heeler pup from the popular Australian TV show Bluey continues. I made a Bluey/Bingo crochet toy again but now in the smaller size.
If you have Bluey it is inevitable that you should have Bingo. Because(no-brainer), sisters go together always. I’m still on the hunt for perfect colors to make mine, but I’ve got the pattern sorted.
Please click this link, or the image for the pattern to make a bigger version. These patterns should work well to make a Bandit and Bluey, or with the right colors a Bluey and Bingo crochet toy.
Disclaimer: Yes, I’m fully aware that I have made another Bluey, but I guarantee you that if you make this one in the right colors this pattern works great for Bingo.
Items you will need:
- Three different shades of blue 8ply acrylic yarn in Bluey colors. White and brown yarn.
- Fiberfill
- Safety eyes: 10mm
- Crochet hook: 2.5mm.
Tip: Stuff the body fully, so that Bluey stays firm, but not so much that the stitches break away. Dont under-stuff, because it wont look the same way if you understuff.
Start making the blue oval base for the body,
Round 1: Chain 12.
Round 2: In the second chain from the hook, 3 inc, 9sc, 3 inc, 9sc. (24)
Round 3: 1sc, 3 inc, 11sc, 3 inc, 10sc. (28)
Round 4: 2sc, 3 inc, 13sc, 3 inc, 11sc. (32)
Round 5: 3sc, 3 inc, 15sc, 3 inc, 12sc. (36)
Round 6: 4sc, 3 inc, 17sc, 3 inc, 13sc. (40)
Round 7: 5sc, 3 inc, 19sc, 3 inc, 14sc. (44)
In the next round, please follow along for the color change in light blue for the tummy.
Round 8: 6sc, 3 inc, 6sc, 10sc(in light blue yarn), 5sc, 3 inc, 15sc. (48)
Crochet only in the backloops, and from this round on there’s no increases just follow the color change graph to complete the body of bluey.
Round 9: 15sc, 10sc(in light blue yarn), 23sc. (48)
Edited to add: After 25 rounds of crocheting the body, taking note of the color changes from the chart you start working your decreases.
The decreases are done in the same order as we’ve done the increases. So, we’ll be doing 6 rounds of decreases, and then when we are left with just 24 stitches in the round, we’ll sl st it close.

Hi
Great pattern ? please can you tell me do you carry your yarn behind and crochet over it for the colour changes, or drop it and only pick it up for the colour?
Hi Amanda,
Thank you!
Yes, I carry it behind and crochet over it for color changes. It doesn’t show through usually when both your yarns are of the same thickness. If you see the yarn through the stitches, try to pull the (inside) yarn a bit before every color change. But don’t pull too much, as your work may look uneven. The width of Bluey’s body should stay the same after every row, that’s the key to making a good looking one. I hope it helps. Feel free to message me back if you have any doubts, thank you.
Hi just wondering what the pattern is for the small Blueys eyebrows? I can’t seem to find it!
Thank you!
Hi Melissa,
I did 7 rounds of 4 sc in continuous rounds starting with a Magic circle for the eyebrows, sorry that it was not on the blog post.
Thank you!
Hi, can you be more specific please about the eyebrows as I’m quite new and struggling to understand. I understand your other instructions, can you please write it down in a similar format. Thank you
Do you join after every round or is it just continuous going around?
Just continuous rounds all the way to the top, without joining. Thank you!
Continuous rounds without joining. Thank you.
So the color chart gets you to the top of the head, but I don’t see when you close the head. Do you just slip stitch it shut. Do you decrease at all? Thanks for sharing your pattern!
Hi, I may have mentioned that you need to do the decreases just like the increases that you do in the base. And then whip stitch it close after 6 rounds of decrease stitches. Hope it helps. Thanks!
Thanks for the awesome pattern, have made a bingo for my little niece. Fairly straight forward pattern that came together fairly quickly.
I’m having trouble with Blueys tummy Colour. It’s not going straight but on an angle. Could you help me please. Thanks for the pattern can’t wait to make it.
I have to admit that it does have a slight slant to it. But is less significant when you stuff it.
I made a Bluey and a Bingo from this pattern. They turned out so well. My granddaughter reeived them for her 1st birthday and loves them. The pattern was quite easy to follow. I just shortened the body for Bingo to make her a little smaller. I’d like to send you a photo of the completed toys.
Thank you for giving it a go. You can email me a picture and I’d love to see your version.
do you decrease 2dec at each end to get down to 24 sts in 6 rows as pattern dosen’t say
Hi love the pattern but there doesn’t seem to be anything for the eyebrows
I definitely plan on making this for my nephew! Do you have a more printer friendly pattern available?
Would appreciate instructions on the assembly of Bluey. Do you have a u tube post on that part of the process? Thank you in advance.
Love this pattern. I am a big Bluey fan as is my granddaughter and son. It is entertaining for parents too and gives them lessons on good parenting along with the laughs and good messages for kids. Awesome show. Going to try to make Bandit and Chilli the parents along with Bluey and Bingo.
