Hello guys, here is a free pattern to make a lotus crochet tealight holder.
I have always fancied lotus, not just because the Indian national flower is a lotus but that it has always meant some calm and peace to me. You can always find a lotus in most Vishnu temples beautifully adorning the lord.
Also, most Raja Ravi Varma‘s paintings where the Hindu goddesses are seated on them or holding them(but why?). Hmmmn, that ticks the google search alarm in my head, I really need to know more about Lotus and its significance in India.
Sometime back I made a lotus out of pistachio shells and had been using it for my prayers, now that it has become a bit dusty and needed a change I decided I’d crochet one myself. I wanted something big enough, like a lotus bed so that my kutti kannan(ladoo gopal) can lounge on it.
Here’s the pattern for this easy quick lotus crochet,
Materials needed:
- Hook : 3.5 mm
- Yarn : Yellow, pink acrylic 8ply yarn.
Sequence of steps:
- Crochet in continous rounds the center of the lotus blossom.
- Make three rounds of petals.
- Using a tapestry needle and yarn, join the center with petals.
Glossary:
ch – Chain
sl st – Slip stitch
sc – Single crochet
dc – Double crochet
htr – Half treble crochet
tr – Treble crochet
